Lucha Underground’s Ivelisse Claims Promotion is Refusing to Grant Her Release

One of the biggest stars of the Lucha Underground promotion Ivellise is claiming that she has been refused a release from her LU contract. Going as far to say she is being “legally held hostage” by the promotion.

In a post on her Twitter page, the former SHINE Champion stated: “Ive (sic) been battling LU to grant me my release. They convinced me to do [Season 4] under the promise Id be released after the season concluded and was still unhappy. They currently are still refusing to do so despite having been told numerous times that they would.” She also stated: “being legally held hostage while Pro Wrestling is booming is a matter not to be taken lightly… I am at my wits end, so at this point, regardless what happens from here on out, at the very least my story is told”.

Ivelisse is a two-time former Lucha Underground Trios Champion, and has found success in SHINE Wrestling as both a former singles and tag team Champion. The former Sofia Cortez of NXT was also part of the 2011 WWE Tough Enough show. It seems Ivellise is following many other LU stars in leaving the promotion with many finding success in other promotions such as Impact Wrestling, but this is certainly a troubling situation if LU are refusing to release an unhappy talent.
