Welcome one and all the RAW RECAP presented by THE REVELLEUTION! The Royal Rumble is not far away but the ranks of the big over the top rope match are still very thin. Will we see more names step up for the big match? And what’s next for the feud between Asuka and Becky Lynch? Let’s get into it, and find out…
Singles Match CHARLOTTE FLAIR defeated SARAH LOGAN
In a short, sloppy match that featured more brawling than moves, Flair won with the Figure Eight. After the match Flair had the referee put her robe back on before she tossed Logan over the top rope (BECAUSE RUMBLE ELIMINATIONS!!) before leaving.
CHARLY CARUSO interviewed LANA and Lashley when they arrived at the arena, and handled other interviewing duties on the show.
The LIV MORGAN and Lana stuff this week was a weak ringside brawl with Lana tossing a drink over Morgan. This distracted Rusev, allowing Lashley to hit a Spear and steal a win. Later, Lana was enraged and backstage challenged Morgan and Rusev to face her and Lashley in a mixed tag next week.
The in-ring contract signing for the Raw Women’s Championship Match between ASUKA and BECKY LYNCH for the Royal Rumble was held. KAIRI SANE was out there too but left the ring when Lynch objected to her getting a little too close.
After the contract was signed, Asuka spat the mist in to Lynch’s face before the Kabuki Warriors left the scene. Lynch, furious, said Asuka had brought out a ‘badness’ in her and that if she was going down at the Rumble she’d take Asuka with her.
SARAH SCHREIBER interviewed ZELINA VEGA and Andrade for a segment that set up a US Championship Ladder Match next week.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
The Logan and Flair brawl/match was particularly awful, almost on the Flair Vs Lacey Evans level from last year. It did neither woman any favours, especially when the result of Flair winning was never in doubt. Flair is the only name being built as likely to win the Rumble, which could easily mean she doesn’t have a chance to win. It leaves me wondering what plans, if any, the WWE will have for her after the Rumble if she doesn’t win.
The contract signing and Lynch’s fired up promo worked well. Asuka still has Lynch’s number and Lynch knows it. The feud has been excellent so far with no signs of stopping yet.
Getting the Mixed Tag match so soon might be a sign of the WWE wanting to axe the multi-angle storyline sooner than planned. The quicker this Lana nonsence is over with the better if you ask me.
That’s your lot for this week! Be sure to stop by in seven days time for the next edition of the RAW RECAP! See you then!
