RAW RECAP 28/10/19: The Women are Back and in Numbers! Sane Vs Lynch; Flair/Natalya Vs IIconics

Welcome one and all to the RAW RECAP presented by THE REVELLEUTION! This week’s edition of Raw already was an improvement from last week’s rather no-show of events, as a match between Kairi Sane and Asuka has been booked for the event. What else will happen now that the WWE has remembered it has a women’s roster? Let’s get into it, and find out…

The Kabuki Warriors made it clear Paige was no longer needed.

PAIGE introduced the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions The Kabuki Warriors of ASUKA and KAIRI SANE but when both Japanese women took turns yanking the mic out of Paige’s hands to rant in their native tongue trouble was brewing. It led to Paige getting blasted with green mist to the face from Asuka, but before any harm could be done to Paige BECKY LYNCH stormed out to get some of Sane. Managing to get the better of the two-on-one odds.

Singles and Tag Champion did battle on Raw

Lynch and Sane got plenty of long overdue TV time for a nice back and forth match that saw one another kicking out of their signature moves like Lynch’s Second Rope Leg Drop and Sane’s Spinning Backfist. During the match on the floor early on, Lynch yelled at Asuka about ‘debts being paid’. The finish came when Asuka tried to distract, only to get a Flying Forearm off the apron from Lynch. Soon after, Lynch locked on the Disarmer for the victory. But not looking satisfied at just beating Asuka’s partner.

CHARLY CARUSO handled interview duties on the show.

A new female Superstar debuted on Raw in the form of masked Carolina

In this rivalry against ZELINA VEGA and Andrade, Sin Cara introduced a masked Luchadora called CAROLINA (although there was confusion on if she was called Catalina, as she was signed to NXT as Catalina Garcia). While Carolina managed to cut off Vega’s distraction, that in turn created a distraction that allowed Andrade to steal the win.

Tag Team Match

There was plenty of IIconics loud yelling and freaking out during the short match. The finish came as Kay was locked in the Sharpshooter by Natalya, and Flair took out Royce with a Spear. Flair did not seem completely happy that Natalya got the win for her team.

The ending segment was a Maury Show-like drama with LANA, Rusev and Bobby Lashley. It ended with Rusev getting low blowed by Lashley before Lana and Lashley did more awkward making out over Rusev.

Final Thoughts:

The Flair/Natalya pairing feels very random. I look forward to when Flair turns on Natalya, and Natalya being shocked at not seeing this coming. The IIconics can’t catch a break even on a new brand and without the tag titles – still losing throwaway matches.

The sudden appearence of a new female, and a masked on at that, is fresh and unexpected. Catalina Garcia was only signed to NXT this year, and hasn’t been on TV yet so time will tell if this was a one-time deal or if the Luchadora is ready for the big time.

The rivalry between The Kabuki Warriors and Becky Lynch continues to deliver. Hopefully we can get a match between Asuka and Lynch that similarly gets the time and spotlight such a bout deserves, because this match between Lynch and Sane was a great one.
